Biography: 

Humath Panta, Ph.D.

Humnath Panta is an Associate Professor of Finance at the School of Business. Before joining Humboldt, he was an Associate Professor of Finance and Program Director at Brenau University. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Finance and Assistant Program Director of Accounting and Finance Program at Lindenwood University.

Humnath received his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also earned a master's degree in Financial Economics from Ohio University and a master's degree in International Relations and Trade from Monash University, Australia, BA in English literature with a minor in economics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His primary objectives are promoting a positive learning environment and helping students in their self-development through quality financial education. He has over twelve years of university teaching experience. His professional career outside academia includes more than five years of government service and over three years of corporate experience as a controller of finance and accounting.

He is an active scholar, dedicated teacher, and effective mentor for students with diverse backgrounds and career goals. His primary research interests include corporate governance, investments, and real estate investments. He has presented his research articles at several national and regional conferences, including the Financial Management Association, Southwestern Finance Association, Midwest Finance Association, and Academy of Financial Services conferences. His teaching interests include personal finance, corporate finance, investments, risk management, financial statement analysis, financial and managerial accounting, international economics, business statistics, and data analytics.

He is active in various civic, cultural, and professional organizations, including the Financial Management Association, Southwestern Finance Association, and Blood Donors of America. He visited several business schools as a site visit chair and member for ACBSP. Outside his professional interests, he likes to travel, read, write and enjoys living with his family and servicing the community.
